Getting started
Kas Wallet is designed as a desktop wallet surface for Kaspa. The first run should be treated like any other wallet setup: work from a clean device, verify the source of the download, and keep recovery material offline.
Never share seed phrases, private keys, recovery words, or wallet files with anyone. Project members will not ask for them.
Installation
- Choose the build for your operating system from the download section.
- Review release notes before replacing an existing wallet installation.
- Keep backups of recovery material before updating software or changing devices.
- Launch the app and confirm that the network, account, and address views load as expected.
If a build is unsigned, experimental, or marked as pre-release, treat it as testing software and keep funds limited to what you are prepared to risk.
Wallet basics
Send
Review recipient address, amount, fee context, and final confirmation before submitting a transaction. Once broadcast, wallet transactions may not be reversible.
Receive
Use the receive view to copy an address or present a QR code. When receiving funds, wait for the wallet and explorer views to show the expected network activity.
Activity
The activity view is intended to keep recent movement legible. For independent verification, compare transaction details with a Kaspa block explorer.
Network context
Kaspa uses proof of work and BlockDAG architecture. Wallet screens should be read as an interface over network activity, not as a replacement for independent verification.
- Use an explorer to verify transaction status when precision matters.
- Expect wallet status to depend on local connectivity and network availability.
- Keep a habit of checking addresses carefully before sending funds.
Releases
Release builds should be downloaded from official project locations. Before updating, read the release notes, close the wallet cleanly, and make sure recovery material is backed up outside the app.
Troubleshooting
- If balances appear stale, check network connectivity and compare with a block explorer.
- If the app does not open, confirm that your operating system matches the downloaded build.
- If an address looks unfamiliar, stop before sending and verify account context.
- If you suspect compromise, move carefully from a clean device and do not expose recovery material.
